Banned Outfit Targets a prominent Pakistani Human Rights Journalist

Fearless Journalist of HRNW and Royal News TV reporter Syed Talat Abbas Shah receives chilling death threat note: “We declared you infidel… you are our target.” Complaint registered in Karachi sparks national outrage and calls for urgent government action.

KARACHI (DP News) In a brazen attack on press freedom, prominent journalist and social worker Syed Talat Shah, known nationwide for his fearless reporting and human rights advocacy, has received death threats from banned terrorist organizations.

The threat, delivered to the HRNW News Agency office in Karachi shortly after Shah’s latest article “Karbala Charter” was published, ordered him to halt his work immediately. The chilling note stated: “We warned you to stop your work and news publishing and book. We declared you infidel (Kafir) and you are our target.”

Syed Talat Abbas Shah also affiliated with Royal News TV condemned the intimidation, vowing to continue his mission undeterred.

“Journalism is not just my profession. It’s my duty to speak the truth and defend the rights of the oppressed. No amount of intimidation can silence me,” he said.

A formal case FIR requisition lodged with the concerned police station in District East, Karachi. Rights organizations and journalistic bodies across Pakistan have condemned the threats, labeling them a direct assault on democracy.

Press freedom advocates are now urging the government to launch an immediate, high-priority investigation, ensure the arrest of the perpetrators, and provide Shah with round-the-clock security.
