Attaullah Tarar calls for stronger Pakistan-KSA cooperation in media, culture

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has emphasised the need to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in media, culture and people-to-people contacts. He was talking to Saudi Ambassador Rajeh Tami Albugamy who called on him in Islamabad. The Information Minister said relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are reaching new heights, highlighting that there are vast opportunities for cooperation in media, culture, drama, music, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. He said the Makkah Defence Agreement reflects a strong partnership between the two countries in the field of defence cooperation. Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan-Saudi relations spanning generations are based not merely on diplomatic or political ties but also on strong historical, religious and people-to-people bonds. Both sides agreed to further promote cooperation in the fields of information, broadcasting, media and culture. The meeting emphasised the need to introduce Pakistani dramas in Saudi Arabia. Attaullah Tarar said Pakistani dramas reflect family values, Eastern traditions and Islamic culture. He also proposed exchanges of delegations comprising writers, poets, artists, musicians, media representatives and digital content creators between the two countries. The Information Minister said Pakistan is blessed with immense natural beauty and historical sites, making it an attractive destination for tourism. He invited Saudi media representatives, tourists and digital influencers to visit various tourist destinations in Pakistan. Attaullah Tarar stressed the need for cooperation to counter misinformation and negative propaganda, strengthen fact-checking mechanisms and produce content reflecting the shared cultural values of the two countries. He proposed the establishment of a joint working group comprising focal persons and technical teams from both sides to achieve these objectives. The Saudi Ambassador described the strong brotherly relations, mutual trust, respect and political and military cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as a source of pride.
