IHC to Hear Imran Khan’s Hospital Transfer Plea on March 10

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday fixed March 10 for hearing a plea filed by PTI founder Imran Khan, seeking permission to undergo medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital. A division bench comprising Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro also scheduled the main appeal in the Toshakhana criminal case for hearing on the same date. Court Proceedings During the hearing, senior counsel Latif Khosa appeared on behalf of Imran Khan. The bench addressed objections raised by the Registrar’s Office, including the absence of a certified copy of the power of attorney. The court directed the office to number the application after removal of objections and instructed both sides to come prepared for arguments on the next hearing. Notices were also issued to the state regarding the request for hospital transfer. Toshakhana & Other Cases Imran Khan has been incarcerated since August 5, 2023, initially in the Toshakhana case. Although his earlier three-year sentence was suspended, he remains in custody due to convictions in other cases, including the £190 million corruption case. He was also convicted in another Toshakhana-related case in December 2025 and faces pending trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act linked to the May 9 unrest. The IHC is scheduled to hear petitions seeking suspension of sentences in the £190 million case on March 11. Health Concerns Imran Khan’s family and party have expressed concerns regarding his health, particularly after reports of right central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and partial vision loss surfaced in January. His legal team has requested his admission to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment. However, objections have previously been raised regarding the transfer request.
