IBA-CEJ hosts U.S. Consulate Public Diplomacy Officer

KARACHI (DP News Exclusive) The Center for Excellence in Journalism at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA-CEJ) welcomed Tim Brauhn, Public Diplomacy Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi, during a visit to the institute.

Brauhn was received by IBA-CEJ Director Shahzeb Jillani, who briefed him on the center’s vision, flagship programs, and ongoing training initiatives designed to strengthen professional journalism in Pakistan. The discussion covered CEJ’s work in capacity building for reporters, editors, and media professionals from across the country.

He was accompanied by Saif Jiskani, Press & Media Specialist, and Najeeb Ullah, Press & Media Manager, from the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi.

As part of the visit, the delegation attended an interactive session with the iVerify Pakistan team. The team walked them through their verification workflow, demonstrating how they identify, verify, and debunk misleading or false information. They also showcased the tools and methods used to counter mis- and disinformation in the digital space, and shared key insights from their work in fact-checking and information integrity.

The visit underscored ongoing collaboration opportunities in the areas of media literacy, fact-checking, and strengthening ethical journalism practices in Pakistan.
