A recent Gallup Pakistan survey has revealed that 40 per cent of Pakistanis conditionally support second marriages, while a majority, 60 per cent, oppose the idea altogether. According to the findings, those against second marriage believe it should not be allowed under any circumstances, whereas those in favor say it is acceptable only if the person has the financial means to support more than one spouse. The survey highlights a clear gender divide in opinions: half of the male respondents supported the idea of second marriage, compared to only 30 per cent of women. When asked about the possibility of fair treatment between two wives, 72 per cent of Pakistanis said it would be difficult or impossible to ensure equal treatment, while only 26 per cent believed it was possible. Among those who considered fairness impossible, men made up the majority at 59 per cent. While at the topic of second marriage, yesterday Afghan cricketer Rashid Khan confirmed his second marriage. In a post shared through his social media, he said that he has remarried and revealed details of his second marriage months of speculation surrounding his personal life. According to sources, Khan’s second wife is of Afghan origin and currently resides abroad. The couple tied the knot on August 2, 2025. Prior to this, Rashid Khan had been married to his cousin in October 2024. Rashid Khan clarified the situation after attending a recent welfare event with his wife. The appearance led to speculation from some quarters about the nature of their relationship. Addressing these rumors, Khan said, “The truth is quite simple, she is my wife, and we stand by each other. There’s no need to hide anything.”
