Pak Army repels major Afghan Taliban, Khawarij assault; 200 terrorists killed, 23 soldiers martyred: ISPR

At least 200 Afghan Taliban fighters and affiliated terrorists were killed, while dozens sustained injuries, as Pakistan Army repelled a massive and unprovoked assault launched from across the Pak-Afghan border, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Sunday. During the fierce exchange of fire, 23 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom and 29 others sustained injuries while defending the country’s frontiers, according to the military’s media wing. The ISPR said that on the night of October 11–12, 2025, Afghan Taliban elements, along with Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK) militants, carried out an unprovoked and coordinated attack targeting Pakistani border posts. “The cowardly action, which included indiscriminate fire and several physical raids, aimed to destabilize border regions and facilitate terrorism—furthering FAK’s nefarious objectives,” the statement noted. Invoking the right of self-defence, Pakistan’s alert and well-prepared forces decisively repelled the assault, inflicting heavy casualties on Taliban and Khawarij elements. According to ISPR, precision strikes and raids targeted Taliban camps, command posts, and terrorist training facilities located inside Afghan territory. These included networks associated with Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK), Fitna al-Hindustan (FAH), and ISKP/Daesh. All possible precautions were taken to minimize collateral damage and protect civilian lives. As a result of the operations, multiple Taliban positions were destroyed across the border zone. The ISPR confirmed that 21 hostile positions on the Afghan side were briefly captured, while several terrorist camps involved in planning attacks against Pakistan were rendered inoperative. “According to credible intelligence and damage assessments, more than 200 Taliban and affiliated militants have been neutralized, with the number of wounded considerably higher,” the statement added. The ISPR said that infrastructural losses to Taliban posts, command centres, and support networks were extensive, spanning from tactical to operational depths along the border. The Armed Forces of Pakistan remain ever ready to protect the territorial integrity, life and property of the people of Pakistan. Our resolve to defend Pakistan’s territorial integrity and to defeat those who threaten our security is unwavering. The Pak Army warned that While the people of Pakistan prefer constructive diplomacy and dialogue over violence and belligerence, we will not tolerate the treacherous use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan. We have noted with concern that this serious provocation has occurred during the visit of Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to India – the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the region. Pak Army urged the interim Kabul government that In the interest of regional peace and security, we call upon the Taliban Government to take immediate and verifiable actions to neutralize the terrorist groups, inter alia, FAK, FAH and ISKP/ Daesh operating from their territory. Otherwise, Pakistan will continue to exercise its right to defend its people by persistent neutralization of terror targets. The Taliban Government should shun any ill-begotten notions and prioritize well being, peace, prosperity and development of Afghan people over irresponsible sabre-rattling, the ISPR said. Last night’s episode vindicates Pakistan’s long-standing position that the Taliban Government is actively facilitating the terrorists. If the Taliban Government continues to sponsor terrorist outfits, in cohorts with India, for shortsighted objective of destabilizing the region, the people and the state of Pakistan will not rest until the menace of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan is completely eliminated, the statement concluded.
