The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) today launched its Humanitarian Appeal for Emergency Flood Response 2025 at the PRCS National Headquarters in Islamabad. The event was attended by ambassadors, heads of delegation, representatives from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Norwegian Red Cross, Turkish Red Crescent, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), German Red Cross, civil society members, international organizations, government officials, and PRCS staff. This year’s monsoon floods have triggered a massive humanitarian crisis across Pakistan. Reports indicate that over 907 people have lost their lives and more than 1,044 injured, while thousands of families have been displaced. The floods have heavily impacted Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, leaving behind widespread devastation. Operational Preparedness and Coordinated Response PRCS Secretary General, Mr. Muhammad Abaid Ullah Khan, emphasized the operational readiness and coordinated response mechanisms in place to reach the most vulnerable communities. He highlighted the need for strengthened partnerships and collective efforts to scale up humanitarian operations efficiently. PRCS Commitment to Flood-Affected Communities Speaking at the launch, Chairperson PRCS, Ms. Farzhana Naek, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to support flood-affected families. She said PRCS teams, in close coordination with provincial branches and Movement partners, are delivering life-saving assistance, including. 1. Emergency shelter 2. Food and dry rations 3. Safe drinking water 4. Health services 5. Psychosocial support Ms. Naek urged donors, the Pakistani diaspora, INGOs, and the international community to extend their support to bring hope and relief to thousands of families in need. IFRC Support and International Solidarity Mr. Farid Abdulkadir, IFRC Head of Delegation in Pakistan, highlighted the devastating scale of this year’s floods, noting the loss of lives, displacement of families, and destruction of livelihoods. The IFRC has launched an emergency appeal of 17 Million Swiss Francs to assist PRCS in expanding its relief operations. He stressed that the IFRC stands proudly with PRCS in delivering life-saving assistance to the most vulnerable communities.
