PM Shehbaz Sharif directs adherence to global standards for Jinnah Medical Complex

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has instructed authorities to ensure the construction of the Jinnah Medical Complex meets international standards for specialized healthcare. The directive came during a progress review meeting on the project held in Islamabad today. The Prime Minister stated that the Jinnah Medical Complex will be a world-class hospital providing healthcare to patients from all four provinces of Pakistan, as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He further directed that the different blocks of the complex be named after the provinces to symbolize national unity. In a bid to ensure transparency and merit, Prime Minister Sharif ordered that these principles be given top priority in both the construction work and the recruitment of staff. He also called for third-party validation to ensure the highest quality of construction. The meeting, which included federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Syed Mustafa Kamal, as well as the Prime Minister’s Health Coordinator Dr. Mukhtar Bharath and Professor Dr. Saeed Akhtar of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI), reviewed the progress on the hospital’s conceptual design, board formation, and land acquisition. It was noted that these aspects are in their final stages. The Prime Minister also directed that a plan be presented to improve the primary and secondary healthcare systems in Islamabad to reduce the burden on tertiary hospitals. He expressed confidence that the new Jinnah Medical Complex would surpass the facilities of the PKLI and offer international-standard services.
