Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday warned that nobody would be allowed to spoil the law and order situation in Islamabad. “We will take every possible measure to protect lives and properties of citizens to maintain the law and order situation,” he said addressing police personnel in Police Lines Area. Naqvi said a delegation of Belarus would reach the federal capital territory on Sunday, then Belarus President Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko will land here on Monday (November 25). Viewing the Belarus president’s visit, Islamabad had to be protected, come what may, he said, adding that the police force would have to work in collaboration to ensure that. “Every person involved in spoiling the law and order situation of Islamabad will be arrested. The ones taking the law into their hands would not be allowed to return,” he said. The minister instructed the police force to wear helmet and protective jackets to perform duties. The Islamabad inspector general of police, chief commissioner, DIG and a number of other police officers were present on this occasion. With the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) deciding to go ahead with its November 24 “do-or-die” protest, the government is likely to suspend mobile services across the country from today evening. With Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issuing stern directions to authorities to prevent the protesters from entering Islamabad, police vans have been delivered to Islamabad and necessary preparations have been finalised regarding the demonstrators’ arrest and where they are to be kept afterwards. The district administration has placed barricades on multiple main arteries and deployed police personnel ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s protest, slated for November 24 in Islamabad. Police have been posted on entry and exit routes of the federal capital. Main route of Faizabad Interchange, that connects Islamabad and Rawalpindi, has also been closed. The route leading to the Adiala jail has been blocked. Scores of business centres have been shut from Sixth road to Faizabad. Hotels and restaurants have been vacated at Faizabad Lorry Adda.
