United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has appreciated Pakistan’s leading role and strong support for the UN and its peace and development agenda. He was talking to Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, who paid a farewell call on the UN Secretary General in New York. During the meeting, the United Nations Chief particularly lauded Pakistan’s mediation efforts, and contribution as current member of the Security Council. Antonio Guterres congratulated the Ambassador Asim Iftikhar on his appointment as the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan and wished him all the best. In his remarks, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar conveyed his gratitude to the UN Secretary General for the support extended by him and his team during his tenure. He also commended the UN Secretary General for his outstanding leadership and principled advocacy for multilateralism, UN Charter and international law.
