President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday assured the MQM-P that the government would take the party along in managing the affairs of the country. According to an inside story of a meeting of the president with MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui at the President’s House, the latter complained to the former that despite the fact that MQM-P was Karachi’s largest party, it was not taken into confidence on development projects of the port city. The president directed that the party’s concerns be addressed. Sources told the 24News TV channel that it was agreed at the meeting that the MQM-P ministers would soon meet PPP leaders so that the concerns of the former could be addressed. Sources informed that from PPP, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani would hold a meeting with the MQM-P lawmakers. Siddiqui, on the occasion, expressed his reservations over Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab. However, President Zardari expressed his confidence in the mayor and praised his performance as well as that of Sindh chief minister. On Sunday, President Asif Ali Zardari held an important meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and MQM-Pakistan Chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. According to sources, the meeting focused on Pakistan’s prevailing internal security environment, with participants reviewing key challenges related to public safety, law enforcement, and the maintenance of peace across the country. Sources said the leaders emphasized the importance of joint efforts to promote peace, stability, and the rule of law in the country, stressing that a coordinated national approach remains essential to address both internal and external challenges.
