Pakistan has issued a strong response to what it described as unprovoked actions by the Afghan Taliban government, reaffirming its resolve to eliminate terrorism originating from Afghanistan. In a statement, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Pakistan had taken effective and proportionate countermeasures following Afghan aggression and subsequent provocations. ‘Significant Losses’ Inflicted According to the statement, Pakistani security forces inflicted significant losses on terrorist organisations and targeted their logistical support centres inside Afghan territory. The spokesperson said the actions were undertaken to protect Pakistani citizens and safeguard broader regional and global security, warning that any further escalation by the Taliban authorities would be met with a decisive response. Allegations of Safe Havens The Foreign Office stated that despite multiple goodwill gestures by Pakistan, terrorist attacks originating from Afghan soil had increased in recent months. It alleged that militant groups operating against Pakistan had received support from the Taliban administration, as well as backing from India. Pakistan reiterated its determination to eliminate terrorism emanating from Afghan territory and called on Afghan authorities to dismantle what it described as safe havens provided to militant groups operating under the names ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’ and ‘Fitna al-Hindustan’. The statement underscored that Pakistan remains committed to defending its sovereignty while seeking peace and stability in the region.
