Italy’s big announcement: More than 10,000 visas for Pakistani skilled labor

Mohsin Naqvi met his Italian counterpart Matteo Piantedosi in Rome, where issues of internal security, illegal immigration and mutual cooperation were discussed. During the meeting, the Italian Interior Minister announced that 10,500 visas will be issued to Pakistani skilled labor under the promotion of legal migration. In addition, it was also agreed to grant visa exemption to Pakistani diplomatic passport holders. Matteo Piantedosi said that the proposal for visa exemption on diplomatic passports was presented by Mohsin Naqvi some time ago. The two interior ministers also stressed on increasing cooperation against drugs, human trafficking and terrorism. Appreciating the measures taken to prevent illegal immigration, the Italian interior minister praised Pakistan’s effective policy. Mohsin Naqvi said that due to strict surveillance at airports and sea borders in Pakistan, there has been a significant reduction in illegal immigration. The Italian Interior Minister further said that Italy is ready to promote legal migration and increase cooperation with Pakistan in areas of common interest.
