Five Militants Killed in Intelligence-Based Operation in Pishin: ISPR

Five militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by security forces in Balochistan’s Pishin district, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday. According to the statement, troops engaged what it described as the “entire tashkeel with multiple weapons,” resulting in an intense exchange of fire. During the operation, one militant reportedly detonated a suicide vest, while four others were killed in the engagement. The ISPR said weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the deceased militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region. Security forces have launched a sanitisation operation in the area to ensure no additional militants remain. The military reiterated that counterterrorism efforts under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy would continue to eliminate what it termed foreign-sponsored terrorism. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces have experienced heightened security challenges since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Earlier this month, attacks in various parts of Balochistan claimed the lives of civilians and security personnel, prompting large-scale security operations. The ISPR stated that following those incidents, security forces launched “Operation Raddul Fitna 1,” during which numerous militants were killed in coordinated engagements and clearance operations across affected districts. Recent attacks targeted areas including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar and Pasni. The incidents drew condemnations from multiple countries and international organisations, including the United Nations Security Council, the European Union and members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Authorities said security operations would continue to maintain law and order in the region.
