Barrister Salman Safdar has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is in good health following a meeting at Adiala Jail, adding that a written report will be submitted to the Supreme Court.Barrister Salman Safdar, who was appointed as amicus curiae (friend of the court) by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Toshakhana criminal case, met Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. After the meeting, he said that Khan’s health was satisfactory and that full access had been provided to him. The meeting between Barrister Safdar and the PTI founder lasted for approximately three hours. Speaking to the media afterward, Safdar said he would refrain from making further comments until the submission of his report to the Supreme Court. He added that he was granted complete access to Imran Khan and would submit a detailed written report to the apex court in line with his assigned responsibility. Earlier, the Toshakhana criminal case was heard by a two-member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan. Supreme Court Directions The Supreme Court had appointed Barrister Salman Safdar as amicus curiae in the Toshakhana criminal case and granted him permission to access Imran Khan’s jail barrack at Adiala Jail. The court observed that at the time of its order dated August 24, 2023, the PTI founder was detained at Attock Jail. It said that, under the current circumstances, it was appropriate to obtain an updated report regarding his living conditions and facilities. The court directed Barrister Safdar to visit Adiala Jail and submit a detailed written report on Imran Khan’s condition, accommodation, and available facilities. The Supreme Court adjourned further hearing of the Toshakhana criminal case until February 12.
