Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Consulate Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain says that Saturday and Sunday holidays have been abolished for the convenience of overseas Pakistanis, while about 200 passports are being processed in the consulate daily. According to the details, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Consulate Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain says that the ministry is fully aware of the issues related to overseas Pakistanis and the consulate and providing facilities to overseas Pakistanis is the government’s top priority. Chaudhry Salik Hussain said that the Pakistani Consulate in Barcelona in Spain has abolished Saturday and Sunday holidays for the convenience of overseas Pakistanis, while about 200 passports are being processed in the consulate daily. The Federal Minister clarified that it is necessary to provide reasonable justification for the issuance of a new passport, while in case the passport has a remaining validity period, a new passport will be issued only on the basis of loss. He said that previous passports or passport loss report has been made mandatory for the issuance of permanent passports in Spain. According to Chaudhry Salik Hussain, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and consulate officials are in constant contact with the DG Immigration and Passports, while efforts are underway to bring flexibility in the procedure for passport loss report. The Federal Minister said that the government is taking practical steps to resolve the problems of overseas Pakistanis and all possible facilities will be provided to overseas Pakistanis.
