PTI announces 23-member political committee to shape parliamentary strategy

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced the formation of a comprehensive 23-member political committee aimed at guiding the party’s policy line across parliamentary forums and legislative assemblies. The committee was formally notified by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and has come into effect immediately. According to the notification, PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja will be part of the high-level body, which brings together senior leaders from the National Assembly, Senate, provincial legislatures, and organizational wings. The committee also includes Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram, and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi. From the upper house, Leader of the Opposition in Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and former Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz have been named. In the National Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Mahmood Khan Achakzai, outgoing Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, and Chief Whip Aamir Dogar have been added to the committee. Punjab Assembly representation includes Leader of the Opposition Moin Riaz Qureshi and former opposition leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar. The party’s organizational structure is also strongly represented. Overseas International Chapter Secretary Sajjad Burki, TTAP Secretary General Asad Qaiser, and provincial organizers Alia Hamza, Junaid Akbar, Haleem Adil, and Dawood Kakar have been included. From AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, Khalid Khurshid and Sardar Qayyum Niazi will serve on the committee. PTI’s wings will also have a voice through Women Wing President Kanwal Shozab and Minorities Wing President Lal Chand Malhi, while Senate Coordinator Fauzia Arshad will contribute to parliamentary liaison. The notification states that the committee will play a central role in determining the policy direction of PTI’s parliamentary wings and legislative bodies. It also outlines that sub-committees comprising experienced members will be constituted to address specialized areas, and further appointments or adjustments may be made as required. The formation of this broad-based body is seen as a significant step in strengthening internal coordination and enhancing PTI’s strategic decision-making across all tiers of governance.
