The Danish government has announced plans to restrict social media use for children under 15, in an effort to protect young people’s mental health, international media reported Saturday. Officials said that while parents may grant limited access to certain platforms for children under 13, the new rules will generally restrict social media usage for younger users. The decision comes following Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s call to curb teenagers’ time on social media to safeguard their mental well-being. Denmark’s move comes after Australia introduced a similar restriction last year, banning social media access for children under 16, amid growing global concern over the impact of online platforms on youth mental health.
