PM announces ‘Roshan Maeeshat Power Package’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s has announced “Roshan Maeeshat Power Package” for the development of country’s industry and agriculture sectors. The package was announced during a meeting with the delegation of business community and experts from the industrial and agricultural sectors in Islamabad today. Under the package, industries and farmers will receive additional electricity at discounted rates over the next three years from November 2025 to October 2028. The Prime Minister said the prices for industrial units, currently at 34 rupees per unit, and for agriculture, at 38 rupees per unit, will be significantly reduced and additional units will be provided. He said the industrial and agriculture sectors will get additional electricity at 22.98 rupees per unit throughout the year. He made it clear that the relief announced will not burden domestic consumers or other sectors. Shehbaz Sharif also lauded Minister for Power Sardar Awais Leghari and his team for their dedicated efforts in preparing the package. He said the development of industry and agriculture is crucial for country’s economic growth and job creation. He said government is taking every possible measure to enhance competitiveness and ease of doing business in agricultural and industrial sectors. The Prime Minister recalled that under the package announced last year, the industrial and agricultural sectors used 410 gigawatts of additional electricity, which boosted production, exports and employment. He commended government’s economic team for its hard work to achieve economic stability by overcoming difficulties. He expressed the confidence that development of agricultural and industrial fields will lead the country to get rid of debt. The Prime Minister underscored that economic indicators have improved and emphasized that the country would achieve economic self-sufficiency through hard work.
