Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded Pakistani space scientists and engineers for the successful launch of the country’s first Hyperspectral Satellite, HS-1, from the Chinese Satellite Launch Centre. In a statement, he noted that, like other sectors, Pakistan and China’s cooperation in space research is exemplary and of key importance. Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep gratitude to China, describing it as a great and longstanding friend, as well as a vital strategic partner in this remarkable collaboration. He remarked that the hearts of Pakistanis beat in harmony with the Chinese leadership and people. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the satellite will support Pakistan’s research efforts in climate change and geographical occurrences. He added that this achievement marks a major milestone in the country’s fight against the adverse impacts of climate change. Shehbaz Sharif said the satellite is expected to significantly strengthen national capabilities in agriculture, environmental monitoring, urban planning, and disaster management.
