Following renewed tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has issued a stern warning to the Taliban regime, urging it to take swift and decisive action against terrorist proxies using Afghan soil to target Pakistan. Addressing the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul, Abbottabad, on Saturday, the army chief called on the Afghan people to “choose peace and stability over violence.” Field Marshal Munir stressed that the Taliban government in Kabul must rein in militant elements operating from Afghan territory and ensure that Pakistan’s security is not undermined. His remarks came a day after Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to extend a temporary truce, following several days of intense cross-border clashes that claimed dozens of lives and left many injured. Speaking to the graduating cadets of the 152nd PMA Long Course, 37th Technical Graduate Course, 71st Integrated Course, and 26th Lady Cadet Course, the COAS highlighted the Pakistan Army’s historic role in defending the nation’s frontiers. He noted that the armed forces, with the full backing of the people, have consistently demonstrated resilience, professionalism, and unwavering resolve in protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Won’t lose an inch of the sacred land While celebrating the country’s victory against India’s aggression, the army chief said that Pakistan once again came out victorious against the treacherous enemy, marked by strategic blindness and naivety about its misguided hegemonic ambitions. Referring to the military operations in May, he said that Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos had further strengthened public confidence in the competence and capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces. Field Marshal Munir added that the armed forces had neutralised all threats with remarkable professionalism. Pakistan, the COAS said, had demonstrated its readiness and “will to defend the nation by downing advanced aircraft like Rafales, targeting multiple bases such as S-400, and showcasing multidomain warfare capabilities”. He criticised India’s eagerness to adjudge culpability, evade neutral investigations, and stage self-created evidence as indicative of the politicisation of terrorism for the vested interests of the ruling regime. “Pakistan gained deep respect and admiration from the people of Pakistan and the international community because of the legitimacy and clear victory against a numerically superior adversary. “Internally, it has further unified the nation and strengthened its resolve to defend against any threat, whether external or internal. It has reinforced the confidence, particularly among the youth, that the armed forces of Pakistan are an essential element of national power and are trusted with the responsibility to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state. “Let me assure the nation that with the help and mercy of Allah, the Almighty, and with the support of the people, we will not lose an inch of the sacred land, and from here on you all shall be contributing to the same cause,” he said. COAS Munir proudly saluted the people of Pakistan, every soldier, sailor, airman, the brave men, women, children and elderly who laid their lives during the testing times, and the Ghazis who fought with utmost conviction to defend the motherland at all costs. No space for war in a nuclearised environment The army chief came down hard on India, asserting that “there is no space for war in a nuclearised environment,” and warning that Pakistan’s battle-hardened army will respond well beyond the expectations of any initiators if hostility is triggered. He said that the Pakistan Army has fought for over two decades in the sub-conventional domain, successfully displaying its capabilities in conventional domains as well by delivering a swift and decisive blow to the adversary. “Should a fresh wave of hostilities be triggered, Pakistan would respond much beyond the expectations of the initiators. With diminishing distinction between combat and communication zones, the reach and lethality of our weapon systems will shatter the misconceived immunity of India’s geographic vastness,” the COAS added. “I advise and firmly caution the Indian military leadership that there is no space for war in a nuclearised environment.” Expressing confidence in the nation’s unity and resolve, he said: “With Allah’s blessings and binding national resolve, people of all hues and colours, age, gender, ethnicity or creed stood firm and tough like a wall of steel.” This, he added, led to a renewed spirit of patriotism and national fervour which prevails across the length and breadth of Pakistan. Every state proxy of India will be raised to dust Field Marshal Munir said the law enforcement agencies, with the help of the people of Pakistan, particularly those in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, would surely defeat the menace of terrorism backed by India. “Like our victory in the conventional domain, every state proxy of our neighbour will be raised to dust, InshaAllah. Like we stood firm against a much larger adversary, we shall never bow against a handful of misguided terrorists having a purported interpretation of Islam,” he said. The army chief assured the nation that, with the mercy of Allah Almighty and the support of the people, Pakistan would never lose an inch of its sacred land. “From here on, you all shall be contributing to the same cause,” he added. He paid rich tribute to the people of Pakistan and the country’s armed forces, saying: “I proudly salute every soldier, sailor, airman, the brave men, women, children, and elderly who laid their lives during the testing times, and to the Ghazis who fought with utmost conviction to defend the motherland at all costs.” “Our Shuhada [martyrs], who have sacrificed for the creation and later preservation of this great country, deserve recognition. We owe our deepest respect to the martyrs and their families, because of whom we enjoy freedom and independence.” Addressing the cadets, he said: “You are being commissioned from one of the finest armies in the world, which is second to none. The bond between the people of Pakistan and the armed forces is unshakeable.”
