Pakistan was elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2026-28 with an overwhelming majority on Tuesday.Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar made this announcement through a post on X, formerly know as Twitter.He wrote, “With the Grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistan has been elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2026-28 with an overwhelming majority. My profound gratitude to all UN Member States for their support! Pakistan’s election is a recognition of its strong credentials and contributions in strengthening the global human rights framework. Pakistan reiterates its commitment to work with the international community on the basis of TRUCE: tolerance, respect, universality, consensus-building, and engagement.”
