Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, at the special invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and US President Donald Trump, arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh Monday afternoon, Upon arrival at Sharm El-Sheikh Airport, the Prime Minister was received by Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Dr Ashraf Sobhy, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt Aamir Shouket, and senior Pakistani and Egyptian diplomatic staff. PM Shehbaz Sharif has termed the Gaza peace plan as a crucial step towards lasting peace in the Middle East. He said he has arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt to attend the signing ceremony of the landmark Gaza peace plan. The Prime Minister said he is grateful to the co-hosts of Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and US President Donald Trump. The Prime Minister said we would not have seen this moment without President Donald Trump’s outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment. He said it took his single-minded pursuit of peace to end the needless killing and destruction. Shehbaz Sharif said today’s ceremony marks the closing of a genocidal chapter, one that the international community must ensure is never repeated anywhere again. The Prime Minister said the brave and resilient Palestinian people deserve to live in a free Palestine, with pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif as their capital city. On Monday morning, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left Islamabad for Egypt to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and signing ceremony of the peace agreement aimed at ending the prevailing grave situation in Gaza. PM Shehbaz Sharif is paying the visit at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, who will co-chair the peace summit. The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit is the result of diplomatic efforts that began on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session last month. Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit reflects Pakistan’s consistent, and unwavering support for the just cause of Palestinian people for their right to self-determination and for achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and other senior ministers during the visit.
