US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to work toward ending the conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, claiming he is “good at solving wars.” He cited the Israel-Hamas ceasefire as the “eighth war” resolved during his presidency. Speaking aboard Air Force One before heading to Israel on a peace mission, Trump said he had been briefed on the intense clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border over the weekend. “This will be my 8th war that I have solved,” he said, referring to the Israel-Hamas conflict. “…And I hear there is a war now between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said I’ll have to wait until I get back. I’m doing another one because I’m good at solving, I’m good at wars, I’m good at making peace,” Trump added. He emphasized that his diplomatic efforts are driven by humanitarian motives rather than personal recognition, referencing the Nobel Peace Prize. “It’s an honour to do it. I save millions of lives,” Trump said. “In fairness to the Nobel Committee, it was for 2024. But there are those who might make an exception because of the achievements in 2025. I did this not for the Nobel. I did it to save lives. Millions of lives have been saved,” he added. Meanwhile, over 200 Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed as the Pakistan military carried out cross-border operations against Afghan Taliban camps. This escalation is being seen as the most serious fighting between Pakistan and Afghanistan since the Taliban assumed power in Kabul. The Pakistan military said that 23 of its soldiers were martyred in the clashes. Tensions have risen after Islamabad demanded the Taliban take action against Indian-sponsored terrorists who have stepped up attacks in Pakistan, saying they operate from havens in Afghanistan. Afghan troops opened fire on Pakistani border posts late on Saturday. Pakistan said that it had responded with gun and artillery fire. Pakistani security officials shared video footage, which they said showed Afghan posts being hit.
