PIA set to restart UK flights from October 25

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to resume its flight operations to the United Kingdom after a multi-year hiatus, with the inaugural Islamabad-to-Manchester flight scheduled for October 25. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott welcomed PIA’s return to UK skies, describing it as a “historic moment” and a positive step toward strengthening bilateral relations. She added that the restoration of direct flights will help bring Pakistan and the UK closer, boosting travel, trade, and tourism opportunities. UK officials also praised the PIA management for its efforts, highlighting that the renewed service will offer much-needed convenience to the Pakistani diaspora in the UK. Prior to the relaunch, PIA’s CEO conducted a thorough inspection of preparations for the UK operations, including a technical review of a Boeing 777 aircraft at Karachi’s Asfahani Hangar. Accompanied by senior officials, the CEO issued directives to ensure the aircraft is fully upgraded and operationally ready in accordance with international standards. The UK is Pakistan’s third-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade valued at £4.7 billion annually. Easier travel is anticipated to boost family reunions, tourism, and business exchanges, further solidifying this economic relationship.
