The Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, will arrive in Pakistan on an official visit on Monday, leading a high-level delegation to further enhance parliamentary and strategic cooperation between the two brotherly nations. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the deep-rooted and strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, which continue to grow under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the leadership of Pakistan. He said that the bilateral ties are “an extension of a long historical legacy of cooperation” and expressed confidence that the visit would “open new avenues for collaboration between the Saudi Shura Council, Pakistan’s National Assembly, and the Senate.” The visit aims to boost parliamentary coordination between the two nations in regional and international forums and to explore new areas of mutual interest. During the visit, the Speaker of the Shura Council is scheduled to meet National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and other senior Pakistani officials to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations. The visit follows an invitation extended by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq during the signing of a historic mutual defense agreement in September, under which both countries pledged that any aggression against one would be considered an attack on both. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq, described the visit as a “natural continuation” of the enduring brotherly relations between the two nations. The Shura Council delegation accompanying Sheikh Abdullah includes Engineer Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Burik, Dr. Ibtisam bint Abdullah Al-Jubeir, Ahmed bin Abdulrahman Al-Wardi, and several senior council officials. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan share a relationship founded on shared faith, mutual respect, and strategic cooperation, dating back to 1947, when Saudi Arabia became one of the first countries to recognize Pakistan’s independence. The partnership was formally cemented with the signing of a Treaty of Friendship in 1951, laying the foundation for a close and enduring alliance.
