Billions of rupees short as FBR misses tax target

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has failed to achieve the tax collection target during the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2025-26, on Wednesday. Sources said that the Federal Board of Revenue collected Rs2,886 billion from July to September 2025, with a shortfall of Rs197 billion. The Federal Board of Revenue registered a shortfall of Rs154 billion during the month of September 2025. FBR collected only Rs2886 billion from July to September 2025. The Federal Board of Revenue was assigned a revenue collection target of Rs. 3083 from July to September 2025. The revenue collection target of the Federal Board of Revenue was Rs1384 billion for the month of September 2025, and FBR collected overall revenue of Rs3032 billion from July to September 2025. After the final figures there are chances of enhancement in revenue collection figures.
