PCB announces 18-player squad for South Africa Test series

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) national selection committee has announced an 18-member squad for the two-Test series against South Africa, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27, starting on 12 October. According to a PCB press release issued in Lahore on Tuesday, the squad will be trimmed further before the first Test. Shan Masood will continue as captain, while three uncapped players Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir have also been included. South Africa, winners of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25, will face Pakistan in the first Test at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, from 12 to 16 October, and the second Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 20 to 24 October. The two-Test series will be followed by three T20Is and three ODIs, scheduled from 28 October to 8 November. The squad for the white-ball series will be announced later. Players selected for the pre-series camp will begin training under red-ball head coach Azhar Mahmood and NCA coaches from today until Wednesday, 8 October. Those who featured in the recently concluded ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup will join the squad on 4 October.
