Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has visited flood-devastated areas of Kasur and Jalalpur Pirwala in Multan to assess the situation and review the ongoing operations. The Field Marshal’s visit was mainly focused on ensuring better coordination between the Pakistan Army soldiers and civil administration for effective assistance to the affected families. According to an ISPR statement released on Saturday, the COAS received a detailed briefing on the ground situation, with officials informing him about the scale of damage, current rescue missions, and relief operations. Chief Secretary Punjab and senior civil officers were also present during thebriefing. Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the importance of good governance and people-focused development. He stressed that infrastructure projects to protect communities from recurring floods must be completed quickly. He said Pakistan cannot afford to lose lives and properties every year due to poor preparations. While meeting flood affectees, who were safely evacuated by the Pakistan Army and civil administration, the COAS assured them of continued support in their resettlement and rehabilitation. The affectees expressed deep gratitude to the Army for its timely response during this crisis. The Army Chief also met troops, Rescue 1122 teams, and police officials working in flood relief operations, commending their high morale and dedication. He said their tireless efforts in close cooperation with civil administration are a true example of service to the nation. Later, Field Marshal Asim Munir carried out an aerial reconnaissance of the flood-affected regions along the Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala areas. Upon his arrival in the flood-affected areas, the COAS was received by Corps Commanders of Lahore and Multan.
