Iran offers help to Pakistan amid flood crisis

Iran has offered its support to Pakistan in the wake of devastating monsoon floods that have claimed nearly 800 lives across the country. The assurance was given by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni during a phone call with his Pakistani counterpart, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, on Monday. Momeni said Pakistan is a brotherly neighbor of Iran, and Tehran stands ready to extend all possible assistance during this difficult time. He also conveyed heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives caused by torrential rains and floods, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. The Iranian minister added that Tehran is deeply grieved by the widespread devastation brought by the floods in Pakistan. Eskandar Momeni said Iran stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Pakistan. Mohsin Naqvi thanked his Iranian counterpart for the offer of assistance and expression of solidarity for the flood victims. The interior minister expressed government’s commitment to the relief and rehabilitation of the flood-affected people.
