Any aggression by India will face befitting response: Field Marshal Asim Munir

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has made it clear that any aggression by India will be met with a befitting response. He was addressing the Pakistani diaspora during his visit to the United States. The Field Marshal said Pakistan fought a successful diplomatic war against India’s discriminatory and dual policies. Asim Munir said India wants to present itself as a Vishva Guru, but it is nothing like this practically. The Field Marshal highlighted that involvement of India’s intelligence agency RAW in transnational terrorist activities is a matter of grave concern at the global level. He pointed out that the incidents like killing of a Sikh leader in Canada, the case of eight Indian Naval Officers in Qatar, and Kulbhushan Jadhav are an example of such transnational terrorist activities. He said the recent Indian aggression, carried out under shameful pretexts, gravely violated Pakistan’s sovereignty and martyred innocent civilians. He said the Indian aggression has brought the region to the brink of a dangerously flaming war, where any mistake, leading to a bilateral conflict, would be a huge mistake. He said Pakistan is extremely grateful to the US President Donald Trump, whose strategic leadership not only stopped the India-Pakistan war, but also prevented many wars in the world. Asim Munir said Pakistan responded decisively and forcefully to this provocation and we succeeded in preventing a broader conflict. He said India is still making attempts to create instability in the region. Talking about the Kashmir issue, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is not an internal matter of India, but an unfinished international agenda as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had stated that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan. He said there are also United Nations Security Council resolutions on Kashmir issue and Pakistan fully supports these resolutions. Highlighting the cordial Pak-US relations, Syed Asim Munir said that his second visit just after a gap of one and a half months marks a new dimension in Pak-US relations. He said the aim of these visits is to take the relations on a constructive, sustainable and positive trajectory. Turning to situation in Palestine, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said the ongoing genocide in Gaza is a worst human tragedy that has serious implications at both the global and regional levels. About Pakistan’s fight against terrorism, Asim Munir said several terrorist organizations from Afghanistan, including Fitna-al-Khawarij, are active against Pakistan. He made it clear that Pakistan is the last bulwark against terrorism at the moment. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed the resolve that there is no sympathy for terrorists and they will have to face justice. Talking about the overseas Pakistanis, he said our progress and prosperity is linked to Pakistanis living around the world. He appreciated the role of overseas Pakistanis during natural calamities and their devotion and commitment towards the motherland. He said overseas Pakistanis are a source of pride and dignity and are as enthusiastic as other Pakistanis are. Asim Munir said overseas Pakistanis are not a brain drain, but a brain gain. Regarding social media, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir noted that today’s social media has become a powerful tool, but anti-national elements also use it to create cosmetic chaos. Syed Asim Munir said the thinking, relationships, and priorities of the new generation are different and understanding them is the need of the hour. He said that huge investment is expected due to a possible trade agreement with the United States. The Field Marshal said Pakistan has also achieved significant successes on the front of international relations. He said various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are being implemented with the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and China, which will promote economic cooperation and investment. He said sixty four percent of our young population is full of immense potential, which will play a key role in building the future. The Field Marshal said our recent diplomatic and security success against India is the result of the blessing of Allah Almighty, the collective efforts of the entire nation, the foresightedness and perseverance of the political leadership, and the professionalism of our brave forces. He said the question before us now is not “if we will rise”, but it is that “how quickly and with how much force, we will rise”. The Field Marshal urged everyone to stand up and move forward with a new spirit and resolve, while upholding the legacy of ancestors.
