Elon Musk has a problem and he’s solving it with perfume. No, it’s not body odour — the world’s richest man wants your help to buy Twitter, so he launched a perfume to fund his purchase.
The Tesla founder, who now describes himself as a perfume salesman on Twitter, launched his perfume, called Burnt Hair, on October 12. It’s described on its website as “The Essence of Repugnant Desire”. Ah, just the fragrance you were looking for.
Rave reviews on the website include, “Stand out in a crowd! Get noticed as you walk through the airport,” and “Just like leaning over a candle at the dinner table, but without all the hard work!”
The $100 perfume is available on the website and will ship in the first quarter of 2023. According to Reuters, quite a few people want to smell like burnt hair because Musk has received $1 million worth of orders for the product.
It’s yet to be seen how much this will help the billionaire purchase the social networking site. He struck a deal to buy the site for $44 billion earlier this year but the journey to the actual purchase has been tumultuous, with Musk backing out and then the matter landing in court.
Twitter is suing him for breach of contract and a deadline of October 28 has been set by a court to close the deal. Last week, he proposed to go through with the original $44 billion bid.
