ECP approves Asif Zardari’s nomination papers for presidential election

The Election Commission of Pakistan has approved the nomination papers of Asif Ali Zardari for the presidential election. Zardari’s papers had been submitted in the Islamabad High COurt and were approved after scrutiny by Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja. PPP Leader Farooq Naek said that no objections had been raised on Zardari’s nomination. Zardari served as the 11th president of Pakistan from 2008 to 2103. He is now vying for a second term with the support of Pakistan Mulsim League Nawaz. PMLN and PPP had agreed on a power sharing formula after he elections through which Shehbaz Sharif was jointly proposed as candidate for prime minister. The arrangement also agreed on Zardari as the candidate for president. The election for president will take place in all five assemblies and Senate on March 9.
