IHC reserves verdict to annul ECP notification for Islamabad NA result

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reserved the verdict petitions to annul the notification of the successful candidates. During the hearing, IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq remarked that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) knew that they had a petition pending before the election. The IHC heard the case of the petitions for annulment of notification issued to successful candidates. The IHC CJ questioned was it not appropriate that the ECP should have decided on the application first. “If the application is pending with the Commission, it should be decided,” the Chief Justice remarked. “The tribunal has not yet been formed, so the court has the authority to hear this case,” the CJ Amir Farooq remarked. “We will not comment on whether their petitions are admissible before the ECP or not,” the top judge of IHC remarked. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) advocate apprised the court about supreme electoral body issuing notices on the petitions. “Form-47 does not include the result of postal ballots. The allegation of the petitioners is only to the extent of Form 47. I would like to give some legal reference on the question of the court,” he said. He pointed out the consolidation of the results point, on which the IHC CJ remarked the Returning Officer (RO) must have done the consolidation first.
