Afghan Cricket Board bans three main players for two years

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has banned Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Naveen ul Haq for two years. A dispute has arisen between the players and the Afghan Cricket Board for not signing the central contract. The three players decided to prefer foreign T20 leagues instead of giving priority to their national team, prompting the Board to take strict action against them. The Afghan Cricket Board has now imposed a two-year ban on Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazl Haq Farooqi, and Naveen ul Haq while also denying them the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for any T20 league for two years after being banned. According to the country’s cricket board, the mentioned players had informed this body that they will not sign the 2024 contract. It is stated in the announcement that the Afghanistan Cricket Board shares its decision with the International Cricket Council, the Asian Cricket Council and the Cricket Board of other countries so that it can be implemented seriously. However, the imposition of restrictions by the Afghanistan Cricket Board on three young cricketers has provoked different reactions. A number of experts and cricket fans have condemned this decision and said that it is better to have an understanding with the players instead of this decision. But a number of cricket enthusiasts have praised the cricket board’s “disciplinary” decision and said that the goal of players should not be to play only in commercial leagues.
