Karachi Kings appoint Shan Masood as captain for PSL 9

Karachi Kings named left-handed batter Shan Masood the new captain for the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which is tentatively scheduled between February and March. Multan Sultan’s management traded Shan for the first pick in Diamond category, the second pick in Silver category as well as Multan-born left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram. Karachi Kings have gotten Multan Sultans’ fourth pick in the first Diamond round. Shan is now set to lead the Kings in the upcoming season where the Karachi-based franchise will look to clinch their second PSL title. Karachi Kings also traded their captain and the Player of the Tournament of last season, Imad Wasim, with Islamabad United’s Hasan Ali. It must be noted that the PCB released the list of all the retained players by all six franchises earlier where many big and important names were not kept by their franchises. Karachi Kings didn’t hold star pacer Mohammad Amir, Islamabad United decided to release power hitter Asif Ali, off-spinner Mohammad Nawaz wasn’t retained by Quetta Gladiators while Peshawar Zalmi decided to send pacer Arshad Iqbal to the draft. Remember, Islamabad had the first pick in Platinum which they traded with Quetta in exchange for Naseem along with two players, Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Junior. Quetta then continued the trade process and brought back Rilee Russouw in a swap deal with the Sultans where Iftikhar, along with the first pick in Platinum, went to the 2021 PSL winners. Multan now have the first pick in the Platinum round as well as Silver.
