Pakistan Reiterates Opposition to Enlargement of Unc's everlasting Seats

Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi says including new everlasting members to Safety Council is not going to make it extra consultant.

Pakistan has reiterated its agency opposition to the growth of United Nations Safety Council’s everlasting members.

Talking within the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Safety Council Reform at UN, Pakistan’s Ambassador to UN Maleeha Lodhi stated no cogent reply has ever been given to how the growth of Safety Council would extra consultant.

She stated including new everlasting members would actually have the other impact and known as for complete reform of the Safety Council.

Maleeha Lodhi warned in opposition to a piecemeal strategy and urged that the negotiating course of have to be member state pushed aimed toward reaching the widest potential political acceptance. She stated that every one member states had expressed a need for better participation in Safety Council’s work, in addition to enhanced transparency and accountability of the Council.

The ambassador stated the extra everlasting seats will usurp the equal alternative rights of different Member States of the Basic Meeting to serve within the Council. How can justice, honest play, transparency and accountability be promoted by such an unfair growth of the Council.
