{"id":8178,"date":"2023-07-18T13:01:11","date_gmt":"2023-07-18T13:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=8178"},"modified":"2023-07-18T13:53:56","modified_gmt":"2023-07-18T13:53:56","slug":"u-s-consulate-general-karachi-launches-science-project-winners-on-voyage-to-space-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=8178","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Consulate General Karachi Launches Science Project Winners on Voyage to Space Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Karachi (DP NEWS): <\/b>Through a U.S. government-funded grant, 24 Pakistani female and male students from three schools in Karachi are currently participating in the U.S. Space and Rocket Center\u2019s Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.\u00a0 The U.S. Consulate General Karachi collaborated with its implementing partner \u2013 The Dawood Foundation\u2019s (TDF) MagnifiScience Centre \u2013 to promote and expand Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in 50 \u00a0schools in Karachi.\u00a0 The U.S. grant comprised of three components:\u00a0 STEM training for 100 Pakistani teachers; educational field trips of over 1,000 students to the MagnifiScience Centre; and a culminating science project competition.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8181 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-4-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"U.S. Space and Rocket Center\u2019s Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama\" width=\"541\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-4-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-4-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-4.jpg 1210w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 541px) 100vw, 541px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. grant aims to galvanize an increase in STEM education and encourage Karachi schools to allocate more resources to train staff that will enhance learning outcomes.\u00a0 In turn, students will be motivated to pursue careers in science fields, thereby meeting the increasing demand for STEM graduates in industry, academia, and research.\u00a0 The United States has an ongoing commitment to supporting STEM education in Pakistan through many past and varied educational programs, including sending cohorts of Pakistani students to Space Camp in 2011 and 2015.\u00a0 The United States supports inclusive STEM education, green technologies, and entrepreneurship for young people around the world to sustainably develop their own countries\u2019 economies and communities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8179 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"U.S. Space and Rocket Center\u2019s Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Photo-2.jpg 1210w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As Consul General Nicole Theriot remarked, \u201cI am thrilled that we were able to send such bright and talented young students to Space Camp in the United States as a reward for their creativity and commitment to further developing Pakistan through green technologies and entrepreneurship.\u00a0 We are proud to promote the U.S.-Pakistan \u2018Green Alliance\u2019 framework, focused on supporting Pakistan as it strengthens climate resilience, pursues energy transformation, and fosters inclusive and sustainable economic growth.\u00a0 I\u2019m confident these students will continue to grow in their education and make important contributions to Pakistan &#8211;
