Awami Muslim League (AML) chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid on Sunday urged President Arif Alvi to announce the election date tomorrow (Monday) or resign from his office.
\nSpeaking to the media in Lahore day after meeting Imran Khan, he said that he had \u2018news\u2019 that the elections would certainly happen.
\nHe also said he told Imran Khan that the president should announce election date. He also said that if the president should give an election date on Monday otherwise he should simply go home.
\nHe also claimed that the \u2018country\u2019s fate\u2019 would be decided by April 30, adding that after Allah only the Supreme Court can save Pakistan.
\nHe also said that he had been \u2018reborn\u2019 as a new Sheikh Rasheed after being kept in prison on false charges. He also said that he forgives his imprisonment and the hideouts he was taken to with his eyes blindfolded belonged to the \u2018institutions\u2019.
\nHe added that he would be the first to offer himself for arrest on February 22 as part of the jail bharo movement announced by the PTI.
\nReferring to Khawaja Asif\u2019s statement about Pakistan having already defaulted, he said that the defence minsiter had given a significant statement at a sensitive time. He said that Khawaja Asif had proved by his statements that he still has his father\u2019s blood in his veins.
\nSheikh Rasheed was recently released after a two-week long captivity in Adiala jail. He was accused of making allegations that Asif Zardari of being involved in an assassination attempt to assassinate Imran Khan.
