{"id":4872,"date":"2023-02-16T11:05:22","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T11:05:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=4872"},"modified":"2023-02-16T11:05:22","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T11:05:22","slug":"imran-khan-asks-president-alvi-to-order-immediate-inquiry-against-gen-retd-bajwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=4872","title":{"rendered":"Imran\u00a0Khan asks President Alvi to order &#8216;immediate inquiry&#8217; against Gen (retd) Bajwa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has requested President Arif Alvi to institute an &#8220;immediate inquiry&#8221; and action against former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa for allegedly violating his oath of office multiple times, it emerged Thursday.<br \/>\nIn a letter dated February 14, the former premier \u2014 who now blames Gen (retd) Bajwa for toppling his government in an ouster via a vote of no-confidence last year \u2014 has stated ways in which the latter violated his oath and the Constitution.<br \/>\n&#8220;Some very disturbing information has now come into the public domain whereby it is clear that Gen retd Bajwa as COAS violated his oath of office repeatedly,&#8221; Khan stated while referring to a column published in a newspaper earlier this month which attributed startling revelations about PTI&#8217;s government to the former army chief.<br \/>\n\u201cHe (Bajwa) has admitted to journalist Javed Ch that \u2018we\u2019 (and it would be critical to ascertain from him who was the \u2018we\u2019 in reference to) considered Imran Khan dangerous to the country if he continued to stay in power,\u201d stated the letter shared publicly on the party&#8217;s official social media channels today.<\/p>\n<p>\u062d\u0644\u0641 \u06a9\u06cc \u062e\u0644\u0627\u0641 \u0648\u0631\u0632\u06cc\u060c \u062c\u0646\u0631\u0644 \u0631\u06cc\u0679\u0627\u0626\u0631\u0688 \u0628\u0627\u062c\u0648\u06c1 \u06a9\u06cc\u062e\u0644\u0627\u0641 \u06a9\u0627\u0631\u0631\u0648\u0627\u0626\u06cc \u06a9\u06cc\u0644\u0626\u06d2 \u0639\u0645\u0631\u0627\u0646 \u062e\u0627\u0646 \u0646\u06d2 \u0635\u062f\u0631 \u0645\u0645\u0644\u06a9\u062a \u06a9\u0648 \u062e\u0637 \u0644\u06a9\u06be \u062f\u06cc\u0627! #\u0628\u0627\u062c\u0648\u06c1_\u067e\u0631_\u0622\u0631\u0679\u06cc\u06a9\u0644_\u0686\u06be pic.twitter.com\/bUGGkj2AUc<br \/>\n\u2014 PTI (@PTIofficial) February 16, 2023<br \/>\nKhan said that the question that arises is who had given Bajwa the power to decide that an elected prime minister was supposedly a danger to the country.<br \/>\nThe PTI chairman noted that only the people through elections could decide who they want to elect as prime minister.<br \/>\n\u201cTaking such a right on himself is in clear violation of his oath as given in Third Schedule Article 244 of the Constitution,\u201d he alleged.<br \/>\nHe also referred to Shaukat Tarin\u2019s corruption case, about which Bajwa had claimed that the PTI finance minister approached the then spymaster General (retd) Faiz Hamid to get this matter sorted out.<br \/>\n\u201cRegardless of the merits of his claims in this case, he has also admitted he managed to get NAB case against Shaukat Tarin dismissed revealing that NAB was under his control &#8211; again a clear violation of the Constitutional oath because the army itself is a department under the Ministry of Defence and civilian official autonomous institutions do not come military control,\u201d Khan wrote.<br \/>\nThe former prime minister, while quoting another journalist, said that Bajwa had \u201ctapes of [the] then PM Imran Khan&#8217;s conversations with him\u201d.<br \/>\nThe PTI chief wrote that this is a \u201cserious violation\u201d again of the former army chief\u2019s oath and a \u201cviolation\u201d of fundamental human rights.<br \/>\nImran Khan alleged that Bajwa violated his oath when he publicly went against the then government&#8217;s policy of maintaining neutrality in the Russia-Ukraine war.<br \/>\n\u201cHe did this at an international conference in Islamabad on 2 April 2022 &#8211; the Islamabad Security Conference. I would like to point out that the govt policy was arrived at after developing a consensus of all stakeholders including MOFA and retired diplomats who had the relevant experience and were area specialists,\u201d he wrote.<br \/>\n\u201cI would also point out that Chapter II of the Constitution describes the mandate of the Armed Forces and specifically refers to Articles 243 and 244.
