Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday left for Turkiye on a two-day visit to extend Pakistan\u2019s support and solidarity following the massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake that killed over 40,000 people in regions of Turkiye and Syria.
\nIn a press release, the FO said the premier \u2014 during his stay in Ankara \u2013 will meet President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan to personally convey heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire Pakistani nation over the loss of precious lives and the widespread damage caused by the earthquake.
\nPM Shehbaz Sharif will reiterate Pakistan\u2019s firm commitment to stand by the Turkish people during these difficult times and to continue to extending all possible support to the ongoing relief effort.
\nThe premier will also visit earthquake-affected areas in southern Turkiye and interact with the Pakistani search and rescue teams deployed in the area as well as survivors of the earthquake.
\nThe FO asserted: \u201cPakistan and T\u00fcrkiye enjoy deep fraternal ties. Our two countries have resolutely stood by each other during every trial and tribulation.\u201d
\nThe premier announced his visit in a tweet today as well, saying: \u201cTrue to the spirit of one nation living in two states, we consider their loss as ours.\u201d
\nThe prime minister further said: \u201cI am leaving for T\u00fcrkiye with a message of unwavering solidarity and support for our Turkish brothers and sisters from the people and government of Pakistan.\u201d
