The 95th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan People\u2019s Party (PPP) Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is being observed today.
\nSpecial ceremonies will be organised throughout the country by the Jiyalas to observe the 95th birth anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
\nZulfikar Ali Bhutto was born on January 5, 1928. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1950 with a degree in political science.
\nIn 1952, he received a master\u2019s degree in law from the University of Oxford. In the same year, he passed the bar exam from Middle Temple, London.
\nAfter completing his studies, he became a lawyer, and for some time, he was a lecturer of constitutional law at Muslim Law College, Karachi.
\nBhutto was the commerce minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Feroz Khan Noon under President Sikandar Mirza\u2019s government.
\nFrom 1958 to 1965, he was the minister for foreign affairs and commerce in the cabinet of President Ayub Khan.
\nHe founded Pakistan People\u2019s Party (PPP) in December 1967. In the general elections of 1970, the PPP gained a significant victory in West Pakistan.
\nIn December 1971, General Yahya Khan handed over the affairs of government to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
\nHe held the office of President from December 1971 to August 13, 1973. On August 14, 1973, he was sworn in as Prime Minister under the new Constitution.
\nAfter the fall of Dhaka, Bhutto healed the wounds of the defeated nation. The Shimla Agreement with India was the pinnacle of his diplomacy.
