Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday once again lashed out at the former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and alleged that ex-envoy Hussain Haqqani was “hired” by Bajwa in the US to lobby against Imran.
\nWhile talking to journalists in Lahore, the PTI chief said Pakistan’s former ambassador to Washington \u201cHaqqani kept campaigning against me and kept promoting General [retd] Bajwa.\u201d
\nIt is pertinent to note that Imran and his party have time and again claimed that a foreign conspiracy was hatched to remove him from power, wherein he had accused the US of engineering his ouster by supporting the then opposition\u2019s no-confidence motion in April last year. A claim that the US has categorically denied.
\nDuring the talk, the former premier also claimed that the relations between him and the former army chief soured because Gen (retd) Bajwa \u201cdid not want accountability in the country\u201d.
\nRecalling the last meeting that took place between him and the ex-COAS, Imran said \u201cBajwa said that you are a playboy\u201d. To which, the ousted prime minister said that “yes I have been a playboy.\u201d
\nTalking about the government’s advice of returning to the parliament, Imran said that “there is no benefit” in returning to the National Assembly.
\n\u201cWhat will we do by going to the National Assembly, there is no benefit,\u201d he said.
\nThe ex-PM reiterated that transparent elections will bring stability to the country. \u201cLet there be transparent elections in the country and make a sustainable government,\u201d he maintained.

\nCriticising the appointment of Najam Sethi as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Management Committee, Imran said \u201che does not know the ABC of cricket\u201d.
\n\u201c[The] PCB constitution was changed to bring Sethi. Unfortunately, because of him, cricket has been ruined before and will be again,\u201d he stated.
\nImran also said that the Pakistan team had reached the final under former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja. \u201cRameez Raja is an educated man, he understands cricket, what does Najam Sethi know?\u201d questioned Imran.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
