{"id":3954,"date":"2022-12-31T16:06:15","date_gmt":"2022-12-31T16:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=3954"},"modified":"2022-12-31T16:06:15","modified_gmt":"2022-12-31T16:06:15","slug":"next-mayor-of-karachi-will-be-a-jiyala-says-bilawal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=3954","title":{"rendered":"Next mayor of Karachi will be a jiyala, says Bilawal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Foreign Minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed optimism that a jiyala \u2013 a term politically associated with PPP stalwarts \u2013 will become mayor of Karachi in the next month\u2019s local body elections due to the performance of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and hard work of party workers<br \/>\nWithout taking names, Bilawal spoke about Ehsanullah Ehsan \u2014 former spokesperson of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) \u2014 and stated that the culprits of the Army Public School (APS) attack fled abroad during Khan\u2019s tenure.<br \/>\n\u201cTerrorists involved in the APS attack got released from the prison and are now giving lectures in Turkiye,\u201d he said while addressing workers of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Karachi.<br \/>\nIn February 2020, Ehsan claimed in an audio message circulating on social media that he was no longer in the state&#8217;s custody and has managed to &#8220;escape&#8221;. A few days later, the development was confirmed by then-interior minister Ijaz Shah, who admitted Ehsan\u2019s escape.<br \/>\n\u201cThose who referred to us as an imported government, in fact, imported terrorism. Imran Khan released terrorists from jails,\u201d the foreign minister said.<br \/>\nFM Bilawal questioned how national security can be compromised. \u201cWe fought terrorists in the past and are still ready to fight terrorism. We will defeat terrorists,\u201d the minister said, underlining that Pakistan will succeed against terrorists despite the lack of resources.<br \/>\nCensuring the deposed prime minister for being an apologist of terrorism, the foreign minister said that Khan made a deal on the martyr\u2019s blood.<br \/>\n\u201cThere will be no compromise on Pakistan\u2019s security. We will defeat terrorists and bring peace,\u201d FM Bilawal said.<br \/>\nThe foreign minister said that Khan pushed Pakistan towards default. \u201cImran khan will be accounted for the biggest sin,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nThe minister, when speaking about the recent spate of terror attacks in the country, said that the PPP government in the past did not only fight against terrorism but also defeated it.<br \/>\nHe reminded attendees of the event about the mission to take down terrorists in Pakistan of his mother and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto \u2014 whose death anniversary was commemorated a few days ago.<br \/>\n\u201cPPP\u2019s government formed after Benazir\u2019s martyrdom. Our soldiers embraced martyrdom,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nTerror-struck PakistanPakistan saw as many as 376 terror attacks in the last year, resulting in increased casualties in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan provinces, while December turned out to be the deadliest month for the country.<br \/>\nIn its annual report released today, the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), stated that a majority of these attacks were claimed by banned terror outfits such as TTP, Daesh, and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).<br \/>\nThe report said that targeted civilians and security personnel included IED ambushes and suicide attacks mostly near the Pakistan-Afghan border regions.<br \/>\nAs a whole, KP experienced an exponential rise in violence while the fatalities also remained higher.
