Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered condolences to his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, over the passing of his mother.
\nOn Friday, Indian PM Narendra Modi confirmed the passing of his mother at the age of 100.
\nTaking to Twitter, Modi tweeted: \u201cA glorious century rests at the feet of God.\u201d
\nHe recalled that when had met her in June on her 100th birthday, she had advised him to \u201cwork with intelligence\u201d and \u201clive life with purity\u201d.
\nExtending his condolences, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that there was \u201cno greater loss than losing one\u2019s mother\u201d.
\n\u201cMy condolences to Prime Minister [Narendra Modi] on the passing away of his mother,\u201d he added.
\nThe Indian premier lit his mother’s funeral pyre in her hometown called Gandhinagar in western Gujarat state.
\nModi visited his mother on important occasions and festivals, seeking her blessings. On her 99th birthday, the Indian prime minister said that his mother’s “life, sacrifices had shaped his mind, personality and self-confidence.”
\n“My Mother is as simple as she is extraordinary. Just like all mothers,” he wrote.
\nThe Indian prime minister was last seen with his mother on December 4 in public at the time of the assembly election in Gujarat. Heerban lived with his younger son along with his family.
\nSeveral politicians, actors, and cricketers offered their condolences and expressed sorrow over her death.
