{"id":364,"date":"2022-09-07T13:09:58","date_gmt":"2022-09-07T13:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=364"},"modified":"2022-09-07T13:09:58","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T13:09:58","slug":"in-revised-reply-to-ihc-imran-expresses-deep-regrets-over-unintentional-remarks-against-female-judge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=364","title":{"rendered":"In revised reply to IHC, Imran expresses \u2018deep regrets\u2019 over \u2018unintentional\u2019 remarks against female judge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former prime minister Imran Khan, in his fresh response to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, expressed \u201cdeep regrets over his unintentional utterances\u201d in the contempt proceedings initiated against him for his controversial remarks about district and sessions judge Zeba Chaudhry, who had approved PTI leader Shahbaz Gill\u2019s physical remand in a sedition case.<br \/>\nIn the last hearing of the case on Aug 31, the high court had summoned Imran and his lawyers on Sept 8 (Thursday).<br \/>\nImran had submitted his original reply to the IHC on Aug 30, wherein he expressed his willingness to \u201ctake back\u201d his words about judge Chaudhry if they were \u201cregarded as inappropriate\u201d and pleaded before the IHC that the judges who had agreed to initiate the case against him should consider withdrawing themselves from the bench as, according to him, they had pre-judged the matter.<br \/>\nIn his reply, submitted through counsels Hamid Khan and Barrister Salman Safdar, he had asked the court to examine the contents of his speech in the context of his intention.<br \/>\nThe reply had explained that Imran was under a misconception that judge Chaudhry was an executive magistrate carrying out executive or administrative functions on the federal government\u2019s orders.<br \/>\nIHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah had said he was expecting for Imran to admit his mistake. \u201cI was expecting that you would go to the courts and say that you trust them (the courts),\u201d adding that Imran\u2019s detailed response disappointed him.<br \/>\nLater, the IHC had given Imran another chance to submit a \u201cwell-considered\u201d response in the contempt proceedings against him.<br \/>\nThe PTI chief, in his fresh reply, stated that what he said was \u201cunintentional\u201d and not meant to be directed towards the female judge for whom, he stated, he has a \u201clot of respect\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cThe respondent never meant to hurt her feelings and if her feelings have been hurt, it is deeply regretted.
