The country’s economic indicators continue to show positive growth trajectory in different sectors of economy. This was informed by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal while presenting the Monthly Development Update in Islamabad. He said the latest statistics show that the strain on Pakistan’s economy caused by the Gulf war has been overcome and the recovery process has started. The Minister said throughout this tough time, the government has tried to keep the supply chains open and control hoarding and profiteering. Giving statistical details of the monthly development update, the Planning Minister said inflation has been reduced to 9.2 percent in July as compared to 11.7 percent in May this year. He said workers remittances continue to show positive trend reflecting confidence of overseas Pakistanis. In July, the remittances were recorded at 3.6 billion dollars, showing an increase of 13 percent than the same month last year. Highlighting the positive momentum of industrial production with a 5 percent growth in Large Scale Manufacturing this year, the Planning Minister said this will help increase the country’s exports.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
