An investiture ceremony to confer military awards on officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army was held at the General Headquarters, Rawalpindi today. Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as the Chief Guest conferred the awards to the families of Shuhada, officers and soldiers in recognition of exceptional gallantry in operations and distinguished services rendered to the nation. Decorations conferred included 50 Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 12 Tamgha-i-Basalat. Medals awarded posthumously were received with honour by families of Shuhada. Paying tribute to the Shuhada and Ghazis, the Field Marshal stated that Shuhada and Ghazis remain the enduring pride of the nation. Their honour and sacrifice are a sacred trust for every Pakistani. He said peace and security of our motherland are owed to their supreme sacrifices and unwavering devotion to duty. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also expressed profound admiration for the resilience, dignity and steadfastness demonstrated by the families of Shuhada, acknowledging their unparalleled sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the homeland. Commending the operational preparedness and unwavering resolve of Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies, he lauded their sustained efforts against terrorists.
