President Arif Alvi has arrived in Lahore to meet ex-prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.
\nIt is expected the president will discuss the shortlisted name of Lieutenant General Asim Munir for the next Chief of Army Staff (COAS) recommended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
\nMeanwhile, Imran Khan has hinted at potentially spoiling the smooth appointment of the next chief of army staff.
\nHe had said \u201cWe have decided, the President and I, that whatever we do, we will do it whilst remaining within the ambit of the law,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cWe will play within the ambit of the law.\u201d
\nDefence Minister Khawaja Asif said in a Tweet, \u201cThe advice has gone to President Alvi. Now it\u2019s Imran Khan\u2019s test whether he wants to strengthen the institution of the country\u2019s defence or make it controversial.\u201d
