A magnitude 5.9 earthquake has struck T\u00fcrkiye’s northwestern Duzce province, with tremors felt in Istanbul city, capital Ankara and other regions.
\nAccording to international media reports, the earthquake, which struck at 4:08 am [local time] on Wednesday, was centered about 14 kilometres northwest of Duzce, in the Golyaka district.
\nAs per reports,\u00a035 people were injured, one of them critically, and reported 70 aftershocks in the region.
\nThe quake woke people from their sleep and many rushed out of buildings in panic in the province that has experienced earthquakes in the past. Power in the region was cut.
\nTurkish Red Crescent and AFAD dispatched their teams to help locals by providing blankets and warm food.
